NEW DESIGN LIVE REDESIGN (NDLR): Professional Biography and Plan
Nick De La Roca is a Los Angeles-based artist, jewelry designer, tattooist, and graphic designer whose practice uniquely blends handcrafted jewelry, body modification culture, and multimedia design. Across two decades of work, he has built a distinctive catalog of pieces, collaborations, and shows, all reflecting an unwavering commitment to craft, safety, and provocative visual storytelling. His brand, NDLR (New Design Live Redesign), functions as a focused studio for client commissions, branding, and collaborative projects. NDLR emphasizes safety, customization, and artist-driven narratives within a seamless design-and-craft ecosystem.
The following list outlines the progression of the NDLR practice, from foundational skill-building to the current era of cross-disciplinary collaboration:
The NDLR portfolio spans three primary design facets:
The core philosophy is a craft-first approach prioritizing material safety, craftsmanship, and durability. This is coupled with a strong commitment to community engagement through mentoring and technique sharing, ensuring the practice honors tradition while pushing contemporary aesthetics.
Key partnerships have included Jesse Jarrell / Fractal Creations Body Jewelry and joint design development with The Good Art Company. Nick has exhibited work and participated in installation design for venues like the Heart of Art Gallery (Culver City) and is deeply embedded in the local LA tattoo scene (Thunder Volt, Zebra HLLYWD, etc.).
Visuals will include Portraits (hands-on crafting moments), Process Shots (from sketch to finished piece), Finished Works (high-resolution signature jewelry pieces), Exhibitions (install shots), Collaborations (imagery from partner studios), and Timeline Visuals (graphic milestones). High-resolution images should be prepared from your archives.
All images must include captions with title, year, location, and photographer credit where applicable. The next steps will involve assembling a polished manuscript with image placeholders to produce a final layout-ready or web-ready version.
If you would like to support me and my craft you can fill out the Google form and follow the link to my Paypal to pre order a copy of my book that I'm currently working on . I hope to reach 180 pages by March of 2026.
